Drennan Road
Interchange - Proposed Action
The Proposed Action for Drennan Road is a standard diamond with
Powers Boulevard passing under Drennan Road. This design will accommodate
currently projected 2030 travel demand.

Drennan Road
Interchange - Potential Future Enhancement
A sensitivity analysis was completed to determine if traffic volumes
in 2030 will warrant a higher capacity interchange at Drennan Road
that allows for a free flow movement (no signal) of southbound traffic
eastbound into the Airport. Current projections from PPACG do not
necessitate this higher capacity interchange which would be built
as a flyunder. However, the Colorado Springs Airport has potential
to expand and has masterplans for a large business park and therefore
expects higher volumes than projected by the PPACG for the year
2030. With this in mind, the Team worked closely with the Airport
to design a potential future enhancement to the Standard Diamond
resulting in a flyunder interchange at Drennan, the characteristics
of which are illustrated below. This design would be constructed
should traffic volumes warrant it at the time of final design/construction
for the Drennan Road interchange. CDOT would coordinate closely
with the Airport regarding additional costs and the final design.
